Willow Ridge Farms 2307 Bardstown Road Lawrenceburg, KY 40342
Willow Ridge Farm is actually made up of two family farms located right beside each other in beautiful Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Each farm is about 20 acres of beautiful farmland with a creek running through the property and joined together with a common scenic pond. We believe that by combining our common interest in dogs and livestock along with our collective knowledge base and facilities, we are better able to pursue our goal of producing beautiful, sound, even tempered, animals that are proper representatives of their breed. Contact info: Primary Contact: Willow Ridge Farms - Ron and Gwyn Bernot: 859-582-8731 or 502-859-9896 Secondary Contact: Willow Ridge Farms - Clayton and Nicole McNew: 502-382-7288 or 502-839-9695 Our experience with Dachshunds spans more than ten years. We have found this breed to be wonderful, loyal companions through every phase of our lives and are delighted to be in the show ring now with our longhairs! Our experience with Chesapeake Bay Retrievers started only four years ago but it has been a wonderful, learning experience for us and we are delighted to keep as companions these magnificent multi-purpose dogs. All of our chessies are spayed or neutered now and are lifelong pets on our farm. For our farms, we also keep a pair of native Polish Tatra Sheepdogs (Owczarek Podhalanski). These dogs are just breathtaking to look at and have proven themselves to us as expert guardians and loyal defenders of our home and farms. While we have chosen not to breed these dogs, we support the Polish Tatra Sheepdog Club of America and Polish Breed Club in their efforts to keep this rare and wonderful dog in existence. If interested in this breed, please email and we will try to answer questions or point you to the right mentor/breeder! We have now added Bantam Polish Frizzle and smooth feathered chickens to the farm. Coming from some of the best breeders in the country, our Buff laced Polish are gorgeous. We are NPIP certified as of October 2008 and started chicks and birds as well as hatching eggs available starting in 2010. To follow up with the mini ark, of course, we would have to add some mini cows! We have two Dexter cows due to calve again in 2011! The farm just wouldn't be complete without some mini goats to add to the mix so we have purchased Nigerian Dwarf does who joined the farm in the fall of 2005. Some are blue eyed and we always have very pretty kids with good milking lines! Due to our involvement in rescue work, we inherited two kitten waifs as permanent residents. Our plump Russian Blue, Vlad, was scooped out of the middle of a busy intersection as a kitten and has been with us ever since. His housemate, Smoke (now 13), was living in a woodpile when we found her and has also been with us since she was a kitten. We are not sure of her genetic make-up, but she is a prissy and perfect cat nonetheless. You can see photos of them on their Cat Page! And always, bringing up the rear are the ever present rabbits. Though not present in great numbers, we always have a few of the very oddest rabbits that I can conjure up! We are adding some new mini rex and dutch in 2010. They play away in their rabbit wonderland we have created for them never realizing that breathless Dachshunds linger just outside their haven hoping for an oversight on my part that will end in a Dachshund delight and Bunny disaster! The excitement never ends!
