Deciding on a small cattle breed was very difficult but in the end we settled on the versatile Dexter. Small and gentle and fairly readily available, they were the best choice for us. Their personalities were the icing on the cake. What great little cows! They are actually not a miniature breed but a naturally small cow. After visiting Old Orchard at Stockdale Farm we couldn't believe the quality of the cattle and how gentle they were. That definitely cinched the decision! Daisy, our first Dexter was purchased when she was just 8 weeks old. I finished bottle feeding her myself and she is now a beautiful young cow! We also have a polled, dun cow (Dolly) from Clayton Hedge and Carol Ann Haller to join Daisy as well as a handsome, dehorned, dun bull named Sampson from Paul Sexton. All of our cattle are ADCA registered. For 2010 we will be using another of Paul Sexton's bulls. A dun, polled bull named President. Picture and pedigree coming soon!
